Nam Cheong Limiteds entry into the shipbuilding industry began with the building of fishing boats in the 1960s.
In the mid-eighties, Nam Cheong moved into the building of Offshore Support Vessels (“OSVs”) and we have since achieved many milestones: We were the first Malaysian shipbuilder to deliver the DP2-enabled vessel in 2007 and we successfully expanded our global presence in Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, the PRC, the Netherlands, India, Tunisia, the USA and the Middle East. Currently, we are the prime shipbuilder in the world to build the Rolls Royce UT755CD Platform Supply Vessel, which is scheduled for completion in 2012 and will help us embark on our next milestone of being at the forefront of deep-water ventures.
In the last 20 years, we have significantly expanded our product range and carved a niche for ourselves in building OSVs. I am proud to state that Nam Cheong’s Armada Tuah 100, the first Malaysian-made DP2 OSV (delivered to Bumi Armada Berhad), was involved in the country’s first deep-water project in Kikeh, Sabah, in 2007. With nearly 60 OSVs delivered to clients around the world to date, Nam Cheong has come a long way from our humble beginnings.
I would like to thank my fellow Board members for their support and dedication, without which our growth and achievements would not have been possible. I would also like to thank the Nam Cheong family who has been the backbone of our operations. These people live by our motto of quality, reliability and delivery.
I also wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our partners, customers and shareholders, whose loyalty and faith in our ability have been a source of inspiration.
The offshore support industry is headed for exciting times, and we look forward to making Nam Cheong a household name both at home and abroad by producing world-class OSVs.
Thank you.
